No trailer this winter at Hollinger Skate Path

The city will install and maintain the Hollinger Park Skate Path this winter. However, Timmins Community Park Association president Mark Rogers says his group will not move the warming trailer into place.

“The trailer has been vandalized in the past and we feel it’ll be vandalized more this year,” he remarks. “We cannot guarantee the safety of our volunteers and board members. We also cannot guarantee the safety of the people using the trailer that want to come in and change their skates or borrow skates.”

It could be back next year. Rogers says TCPA will evaluate all the events it does, possibly going back to regular family events at Hollinger and other parks.

“Once a month, once every two months. Nothing’s to say we won’t be out this winter. Nothing’s to say we won’t be doing an event in the park.”

Rogers emphasizes that his group is not walking away permanently from the trailer. It will be part of the re-examination of what TCPA offers.
