The Tisdale Reservoir on Langmuir Rd. is at its end of life. The city’s manager of capital delivery Véronique Cheff says city hall is looking for input on a site for a new one.
“The reservoir is a holding tank,” Cheff explains, “so at night, you kind of go and you fill the reservoir and then during the day, it’s what kind of disperses water to the community of South Porcupine.”
Five potential sites have been narrowed down to three. The city has a preferred site on Gold Mine Rd., but still wants your input.
All the sites are closer to built-up areas, says Cheff.
“Also by bringing it closer to the city, we’re going to be eliminating about eight to ten kilometres of water main infrastructure, which would be a significant cost saving to our operations teams.”
