Something different for downtown Timmins begins tomorrow (Wednesday).
Instead of the Urban Park on Wednesdays and the Urban Farmers Market on Thursdays, they’re combining the two.
Summer events coordinator Hailey Goldstone says it’s to minimize traffic disruptions during connecting link reconstruction.
“Instead of blocking off three streets for two, three days, we decided to combine the events and make it one big event,” she tells My Timmins Now Dot Com.
Kids’ activities will be going on as the same time as crafters and non-profits staff their displays and farmers and other vendors do their thing. That’s every Wednesday in July and August between 10:00am and 2:00pm, on Third Avenue between Spruce and Balsam Streets, rain or shine.
Summer events coordinator Emma Laiho says the only exception is next Wednesday.
“July 10th, we’ll be at the library’s 100th anniversary celebration with the community profit groups,” she says, “so there will not be a market downtown that week.”
The farmers market will also be at Hollinger that day.
The urban park continues until the end of August, and the farmers market beyond that.
