We are six weeks away from the biggest evening in Downtown Timmins. The annual BIA Santa Santa Claus Parade is set for six o’clock on Saturday, November 18th.
“This year’s theme is ‘Bright Lights and Christmas Delights’,” says BIA executive director Jessica Mayer.
She’s expecting more than 50 entries again this year, with over 1,000 people involved. And that’s not counting the thousands of spectators along the route.
The deadline to enter a float or a group is Friday, October 27th, by getting a form from the BIA.
“It has all the requirements on there, like size purposes,” Mayer states. “They would have to let us know what size their float is, but it’s all on the form.”
There’s a $40.00 fee to enter a group or a float.
Mayer says in the next two weeks her office will reach out to the man in red at the North Pole, putting in the order for good weather that night.
“We’re going to contact Santa and we’re going to hope that he brings a nice, warm evening for the parade, so that our Grandmas and Grandpas and all the little kids don’t freeze their fingers and toes.”
If you can’t make it the night of the parade, it will be livestreamed and available for viewing on yourplacetowatch.com
