Thrift shop that supports Timmins Food Bank expanding hours, looking for volunteers

You will be amazed at what’s available in the Timmins Food Bank Thrift Shop at the former Nativity Church on Spruce St.  N.  And the volunteers who run it are expanding shopping hours.

Volunteer Sharon Montreuil says all the dishes, appliances and other merchandise are donated to the shop.

“Some of it is past its first, second and third life,” she observes, “but a lot of it is secondhand and we clean it and we make sure that it’s working. Anybody can come and the prices are excellent.”

The store is open Tuesday and Thursday between 9:00am and 3:00pm, and expanding to the same hours one Saturday a month until Christmas, when it will be re-examined.  Volunteer applications are available during those hours.

“We’re always looking for people,” says Montreuil, “because people take holidays and people get sick and have family that gets sick. So yeah, we’re looking for more volunteers for sure.”
