You can’t miss the temporary sign just before the stop sign, yet drivers keep turning left from Wilson Avenue onto Mountjoy Street.
Timmins Police communications coordinator Marc Depatie says the prohibition is only for the duration of this summer’s connecting link work on Algonquin.
“Given the increase in traffic flows in this area, for the sake of pedestrian safety and to avoid further congestion with connecting link,” he explains. “you are not allowed to turn left onto Mountjoy at that intersection.”
“It is a momentary inconvenience, but it enhances pedestrian and public safety.”
You’ve probably noticed that neither can you turn left from Mountjoy onto Wilson.
