Timmins man joining Freedom Convoy to Ottawa in his pick-up truck

Thousands of transport trucks are making their way across Canada, planning to rally on Parliament Hill on Saturday.

The so-called Freedom Convoy’s not coming through our region, but professional body piercer Rick Vaillancourt of Timmins plans to meet up with it in his pick-up truck in North Bay.

He’s not vaccinated against COVID-19, and says more important than anti-vaccination, the convoy is telling the government to stop telling people what to do.

“People should participate in this convoy to Ottawa, if they want to join from Timmins. I think it’s a good opportunity to stand up for our freedom,” he says.

“There’s thousands and thousands of people going in personal vehicles. It’s not just transports.”

Vaillancourt says participants are tired of the government telling them they should be vaccinated; where they can and cannot go; and how to run their own lives and businesses.
