Timmins and District Hospital has started a weekly report on hospital operations related to COVID-19.
In its first report, it says there were 13 inpatients with COVID-19 as of Fri., Jan. 7. Two of them were COVID-related admissions.
Also on Friday, out of 930 total employees and medical staff, 29 people are positive for the virus. Twenty-six are in self-isolation due to a high-risk contact exposure. Agency nurses are being used to ensure stable staffing.
Following Ministry of Health directives, the hospital has reduced the number of non-urgent surgeries and procedures. That translates into 75% of normal surgical volumes this week and next week.
