Final phase of Algonquin Blvd. reconstruction arrives

The reconstruction of Algonquin Blvd. between Thériault and the river is moving into its final phase. The project manager for the city, Ken Krcel says the intersection at Thériault Blvd. will be closed as of Monday.

He anticipates being able to hit the target deadline of early October for the entire stretch to be open.

“The contractor realizes we have shorter days and they’re going to be working a few weekends coming up over the next month or so, to push to the finish line,” he tells My Timmins Now Dot Com,  adding that we’re going to see a lot of things button up pretty quickly behind that work.

“There will be obviously that destruction at Thériault Blvd., but it needs to get done. You know, when you’re redoing a highway, the intersections are included. That’s going to be a bit of an inconvenience, but it’s a necessary inconvenience.”

Signs will be up on Monday, directing traffic away from the intersection.
