Grocery shopping returning to Porcupine

East enders won’t have to go into Timmins to shop for groceries much longer.  The mayor’s office has announced that a Food Basics store will open in the Porcupine Mall later this year.

Metro Ontario owns Food Basics and the mall.  Mayor George Pirie says the company is investing $3-million into the new store.

It’s also donating $2,500 to the South Porcupine Food Bank, and will continue to work with it during recovery from last week’s fire.

Here is a link to the South Porcupine Food Bank’s website.

The Metro store closed two years ago this summer.
