As Timmins Terry Fox Run committee chair Cathy Davis puts it, life is different and this year’s Terry Fox Run was different. Officially, Sunday’s 40th edition of the run was virtual.
“We didn’t have anything formal,” Davis notes, “but you could see people walking around Gillies Lake and through all the hashtagging and of course Facebook, you could see lots of activities going on throughout our community.”
The counting isn’t done yet, but local runners and walkers have so far raised more than five-thousand dollars for the Terry Fox Foundation.

Davis says Timmins is fortunate to have an army of volunteers who keep the run going year after year.
“It’s just an amazing, true testament of how people are so dedicated to Terry Fox and we have lots of Terry Foxers in town.”
All the money submitted to the foundation goes to cancer research.
