If you’re out on an errand after dark the next little while and drive through Schumacher, you’ll see something new projected on to the McIntyre headframe.
It’s from the mayor’s progeny initiative during the coronavirus pandemic, and it’s a picture done by 11-year-old Lilly Rochefort.
It’s called “Not all heroes wear capes”. Mayor Pirie says it features two of Lilly’s friends from the district hospital.
“The two friends at Timmins and District Hospital were Nurse Shawna and Dr. Sonal Zilka.”
Pirie turns the admiration around on Lilly.
“We’ve got a tremendous population here in Timmins. Lilly, thank you very much for this. You’re one of our heroes.”
