That same stretch of water main under Algonquin Boulevard that’s been a constant source of breaks has let go in yet another spot.
City of Timmins manager of environmental services and public utilities Scott Tam confirms it: “We have a water main break on Algonquin between Preston and Waterloo.”
Conditions are slushy and wet right at Preston Street, as the water finds its way to the surface. The first job workers had before digging to repair the break was turning off the water.
Tam says the road is closed on the block between Waterloo and Preston, so has this request of drivers.
“Adhere to all the traffic set-up that’s going on in the area right now. It’s going to cause some inconvenience but hopefully we can respond and get this done seamlessly.”
No estimate yet on when the repair will be completed.
