Farming education for kids main focus of Fall Fair program

Again this year, the Timmins Fall Fair is offering a great learning opportunity for families in rural areas of Timmins.

Through its grower program, board member Erin Rathbone says it will sponsor and supply farm animals for those families.

“In the past we’ve always done chickens. And then last year, we expanded to pigs,” Rathbone tells My Timmins Now Dot Com, “and then this year, we’re expanding to pigs, lambs and chickens.”

You raise the animals through the summer, then bring them to the fall fair in September.

Five pigs, five lambs and ten chickens are available.  Details are on the fall fair Facebook page.

“We’re going to be having an info meeting on March 14th that we’re going to go over everything there and if you’re interested, you have to choose which animal you’d want to house and then we’ll be deciding which families get which.”

More details on the program and the meeting on the 14th are on the Timmins Fall Fair Facebook page.
