Cars and trucks are slowing down on Rae Hill: Timmins Police Service

The 50 kilometre-an-hour speed limit signs along the most notorious road construction site in Timmins this summer are working.

That’s the word from city police communications coordinator Marc Depatie.

“There seems to be a marked reduction in the number of complaints received,” he relates, “and thankfully we’ve got the cooperation from the vast majority of people travelling through the construction site on Rae Hill.”

Depatie adds that the lower limit is to protect people in cars and construction workers.

“It’s a cooperative between those persons who are making the roadways better for us and the motoring public who have to endure a momentary reduction in speed.”

Depatie adds that the reduced speed limit will remain in place as construction continues.  It’s expected to wrap up by the end of August.
