NEOFACS TO HOLD VOLUNTEER INFO SESSION

When you think about Northeastern Ontario Family and Children’s Services – formerly the Children’s Aid Society — fostering and adoption probably come to mind.

There are many more volunteer opportunities to support NEOFACS progams.

This coming Tuesday between 3:00pm and 6:00pm at the Timmins Public Library, the agency is holding a National Volunteer Week information session.

Communications coordinator Melanie Watson says there is a wide range of programs and services you can help with.

“Our volunteers really help our staff on various things,” she says. “ So there’s opportunities like volunteer driver or being a tutor or mentor for a youth, or even assisting with special events.”

Of course, because a volunteer works closely with kids, there is a screening process.

“We do offer training and ongoing support with our volunteers,” Watson states. “That’s why we have our volunteer coordinators, so they’ll go through that process with our volunteers.”

If you can’t make it to the info session, you can contact NEOFACS via phone or on its website.
