Seeds & Suds can diversify your garden crop

Any gardener will tell you that it’s not too early to start planning your garden, and the Anti-Hunger Coalition Timmins has just the event.

On Sunday, April 14th between 3:00pm and 5:00pm, it’s hosting “Seeds& Suds” at Full Beard Brewing.

Executive director Jennifer Vachon says you can bring any seeds from your garden, and swap them with other gardeners, helping each other diversify your crops.

“People can come out even if they don’t have seeds to bring,” says Vachon.  “We do ask that if that’s the case, they just provide a cash donation in any amount for our community gardens program.  We’re also taking community gardens registrations at the event as well.  So if anybody is interested in having a community garden plot, we’ll be taking registrations at the event.

“Maybe people live in an apartment and don’t have access to land where they can grown their own food or people don’t have enough land to grow the amount of food that they want.  So really, anybody can be a community gardener.”

Vachon says the anti-hunger coalition likes to promote anything related to gardening, because it’s one way of combatting food insecurity.
