UPDATE: Stolen Puppies Found

Update:

The two stolen eight-week-old Labrador, German Shepherd and Boxer puppies have been returned to the Timmins and District Humane Society.

The organization says they are healthy, doing well after being returned on Friday night. It says that as a result of this puppy-napping, it is now increasing shelter security so that the animals remain safe during their time. The society says anyone interested in providing funding towards this initiative may donate here.

The Timmins Police Service is continuing its investigation into the break in.

Two puppies have been stolen from the Timmins and District Humane Society.

Sometime this morning two people broke into the Humane Society on Mahoney Road an managed to take two puppies from their kennels. The puppies are a eight-week-old Labrador, German Shepherd and Boxer mixes. One of the puppies who goes by the name Azur is tan and the other that goes by the name Paris is tan with black markings. The Society says you might recognize these puppies as the litter of six that was found with their mom abandoned in an apartment building stairwell on July 13th. These puppies were scheduled to go to their new families on Monday.

Society Manager Alicia Santamaria says it has recently received some criticism on social media regarding the City of Timmins animal control policies and bylaws. Santamaria says the society is not sure whether this theft is related to the online retaliation.

The Timmins Police Service has been contacted and is currently investigating. If you have any information, you are asked to contact the police or Crime Stoppers.
