Chapleau Teen Named Miss Teenage Canada 2017

A Chapleau teen has become the first ever Aboriginal person to be crowned Miss Teenage Canada.

17-year-old Emma Morrison entered the national pageant, running against 70 other finalists from across the country, after being crowned Miss Teen Northern Ontario in May. Morrison says she is honoured to the first Aboriginal and Northern Ontarian to hold the title.

Morrison says her first goal as Miss Teenage Canada is to raise awareness about self-acceptance and self-love.

She is being welcomed back to her hometown with a homecoming parade tonight.
