TPS cracking down on snowmobilers

The Timmins Police Service is reminding snowmobilers to be safe on the trails. This warning comes on the heels of multiple infractions seen by police while monitoring the trails. They notice things like riders not having a trail permit properly displayed, not having insurance, and careless driving.

Police also remind sledders that city streets are off limits, unless they are part of an OFSC trail. Using those trails requires a trail pass on the front of the sled, along with all necessary documents, including a license and insurance.  Snowmobilers are also being reminded they must stop for officers while on the trails. Failure to do so could end in a $5,000 fine, a five-year license suspension, and potential jail time.
