Spring bear hunt gets a five year expansion

The province has decided to expand the spring bear hunt pilot by five years. The MNR says it wants to gather more information from the hunting community and the plan’s impact.

It’s good news for the hunting community that provided feedback at the end of last year.

The pilot program involves all 88 wildlife management units that currently hold a spring bear hunt in Ontario and it affects non-residents hunters. The MNR warns that just because the program is being extended still means rules and regulations are still in place. Some offences can rack up to $25,000 in fines.
