Broadband infrastructure needs to be improved to help northern economies according to Angus

The MP for Timmins James Bay is worried that the federal Liberals have put further expansion of broadband infrastructure in the north on hold. Charlie Angus says Northern Ontario needs broadband improvements to keep on diversifying. The New Democrat says this stalled spending is a continuation of what the previous Conservative government did beginning 10 years ago.

Angus says the Tories cut the FedNor budget by $31 million over a decade. Angus adds FedNor has lost part of its voice because it’s been rolled into the Science and Innovation department. He says FedNor needs to be a standalone entity to ensure transparency, independence and accountability.
