The city is sending out an update on the lane closure on Algonquin between Charles and Avenue. The westbound lane has been shutdown since the beginning of this month because of settlement above the sanitary pipe. The city is looking into the issue and will keep the lane closed as a precaution.
Public Utilities Manager Steven Kukulka says they don’t want to risk loosening any additional materials, which will cause more damage to the road. He says if they were to completely replace the pipe, the entire section of Algonquin would have to be closed, so they are looking at other ways to repair it. Another update is expected in about a week.
