Four snowmobilers created a close call for a pilot trying to land at the Hearst Airport. The sledders were using the long strip for their recreation, forcing the pilot to abort his landing when he spotted them. The pilot landed safely the second time after circling the site.
OPP are warning snowmobilers to stay off runways because they create a dangerous situation for everyone. Police don’t know who occupied the runway with their snowmobiles last Friday. But getting caught means getting hit with a variety of charges, including endangering a plane and interfering with transportation facilities.
