National Research Council looking into Nipigon River Bridge failure

The Ministry of Transportation is turning to the experts to explain what caused the Nipigon River Bridge to split apart last week on Sunday. Engineers with the National Research Council are examining the bolts from the bridge to determine why they failed.

The new bridge split apart forcing its closure and stranding traffic nation-wide. Right now one lane of the two lane structure is open and traffic moves in an alternating fashion. The provincial Liberals may have word this week on when the second lane can re-open.
