Nipigon Bridge fiasco is the perfect symbol of the Northern infrastructure crisis, according to Angus

The Nipigon Bridge fiasco is the perfect symbol of the growing infrastructure crisis in Northern Ontario. That comment comes from Timmins-James Bay MP Charlie Angus, who says this has to be a wake-up call. Angus is questioning how the Prime Minister is supposed to explain to other G7 countries that all traffic in Canada has to travel on one single road in the north.

He says the fact that a single bridge problem could cut the country in half is like a bad South Park episode where Canada is ridiculed as a nation with just one road. But he says Northerners know there is nothing funny about ongoing cuts.

He is asking the federal transportation minister to invest in highway corridors throughout the region. The lack of funding comes as no surprise to Timmins residents, as the city has been fighting for help to fix the Connecting Link which runs through town.
