Early numbers for the Connecting Link show $100M and 10 years until it’s complete

A highly anticipated report will be coming to Timmins council very soon. Work on the Connecting Link Preliminary Study is still continuing with soil samples pulled from various sections of the highway this week. That will factor into the final cost to redo the crumbling infrastructure. Mayor Steve Black says although they don’t have an exact number, it’s going to be expensive. He says as of right now, they are looking at just under $100 million to redo the highway, on a 10 year timeline.

The project will be broken up into phases to complete each year. Black says he expects the final report to come to the city by the end of next month. From there council will have to review it, and talk about the next steps. No funding has been promised by the province.
