The union representing Ontario’s correctional workers sits down with the province today to try and reach a contract deal. The correctional workers, including those at the Monteith jail, will be in a legal strike position as of Sunday. OPSEU is fighting for correctional workers to be declared an essential service, which would have their pay rise with police and fire-fighters. They would also lose the right to strike.
