Remi Ski Club in Moonbeam is all set to open this season, it just needs one thing – snow. Norm Nadeau, who runs the hill, says all the equipment is ready to go, the chalet is open and many of the snow shoeing and cross country ski trails are currently open.

He says with the cold the base is sufficiently frozen meaning dirt and other particulate won’t be a problem once the snow begins to fall. The mild winter has had a significant economic impact on businesses centred around winter sports.

Kamiskotia in Timmins could be partially open this weekend as the hill has the ability to make snow, unlike Remi.
