Winter storm knocks out power to many northeastern towns over the holidays

Many residents in the Northeast spent Christmas Eve and day without power after high winds swept through the region.

Nearly 15,000 in Timmins, over 500 in Cochrane and nearly 300 people in Kapuskasing were left without power.

Hydro One says it had crew dispatched across the province over the holidays as most of southern, central and parts of northern Ontario experienced winter storms.

You can always check the maintenance map on Hydro One’s website for up-to-date information on what areas are affected and ETRs.
