Surprising information about healthcare wait times has been released by the Ministry of Health

Some interesting news about healthcare wait times is being released. A study by the Ministry of Health is showing that wait times for community mental health treatment programs is actually shorter for those in the northeast than in the south. There is a provincial average of 42 days, but for the north, it only takes an average of 25 days to take advantage of local programs.

However it’s not all good news, as finding specific mental health professionals is more challenging in the north. The ministry says there is still limited access to psychiatrists, with only eight for every 100,000 people in the northeast. That is compared to 63 professionals for every 100,000 people in the Toronto area.
