Police are looking for the public’s help in tracking down a man who used a fake $50 American bill. It happened on Saturday morning at a local restaurant. He paid for his food with the 50, which was later found to be counterfeit. Police describe the man as having an olive complexion, and black hair which appears to be balding at the crown of his head. He was wearing a dark, leather three-quarter length coat.
Police are reminding business owners and employees to be very careful when accepting American bills. Look for security features to make sure the cash is legitimate. On a real American bill there is a plastic security thread, a watermark when held up to the light, and colour shifting ink. Also check for printing quality, if there are lines on the edge of the bills it could be poor quality which means it’s fake.
