Council gives the greenlight to re-purpose old Lionel Gauthier school into an apartment building

Timmins has approved the first phase of construction to change the old Lionel Gauthier School and gym into a 28 unit apartment building. Director of Development Mark Jensen says the development is fairly basic, because the building is already standing. Most of the work will be for things like parking, landscaping, and entrances, which Jensen calls straightforward.

This is part of a bigger plan to build three buildings in total, however only the first phase has been approved and no new buildings will be started just yet. The contractor can come back to council any time to get permission to build the two additional buildings on same property.
