Connecting Link funding program isn’t enough, says Black

Ontario is now accepting applications for Connecting Link funding, but Mayor Steve Black says it’s not enough. The MTO says the fund was created specifically to help municipalities pay for infrastructure upgrades. Black says the city will be applying through this new program, but he says it only has a $15 million pot, and has to be split up between 77 cities.

Black isn’t hopeful the city will get as much money as needed to fix Algonquin, because of the program limitations. However he is setting up a meeting with the Minister of Transportation Steven Del Duca, and the Minister of Northern Development Michael Gravelle to discuss what the options are in terms of bigger picture funding.
