Keep your eyes open for wildlife on the roads this time of year

Winter road conditions mixed with wildlife is a deadly combination according to the MNR. Moose, Deer, and Elk are all more active in the late fall and early winter, and are more likely to end up on highways.

They travel in groups of two or three, so if you see one keep your eyes open as more may be close by. The MNR says to take extra caution near water ways, wooded corridors, and where wildlife signs are posted.

This summer, almost half of all crashes in the Northeast were because of moose. If you do see an animal on the road, don’t try and drive around them. Flash your high beams and honk to move them back into the woods.
