Medical research in the north east is going to be first class with a brand new facility. The Advanced Medical Research Institute of Canada is getting almost $12-million to completely re-do a school in Sudbury to turn it into the research centre.
CEO and Scientific Director of AMRIC, Dr. Francisco Diaz-Mitoma, says the building is extremely important for North Eastern health care. The scope of research will be expanded, new world class talent will be brought in for cancer research, and the next generation of researchers will be able to come in and learn about their field.
Funding for the 14,000 foot research centre came from FedNor, the NOHFC, the Sudbury Development Corporation, and the city.
