MNR enforcement blitz shows most hunters are obeying laws

The MNR is releasing their numbers from an enforcement blitz in the northeast during the first week of moose hunting season. Just over a hundred charges were laid for things like having a loaded gun in a car and ATV, not wearing a helmet while on an ATV, and not wearing hunter orange. There were also various alcohol related charges.

The MNR inspected over 3,000 hunters during the blitz which ran from October 10th to 18th. The Ministry says most hunters were properly following the laws, , however they also handed out 170 warnings and seized illegally hunted fish and wildlife.
