The Tory Finance Critic is not buying the Wynne Liberals claim that Cliffs pulled out of the Ring of Fire because of market conditions. Vic Fedeli says if that were true, than all of the mining companies at the site would have left, but that hasn’t happened.
Fedeli says he discovered a secret tax, and Cliffs was chased away by the province. He says it was the straw that broke the camel’s back, and now thousand of jobs have been lost. He says they aren’t there because the Liberal government was looking for more money, and developed this chromite tax.
Fedeli says the tax was hidden among gas plant scandal documents. The documents he found show the Liberals were ready to hit Cliffs with a tax as high as $34M a year.
