Spring bear hunt may get another five years

The two-year spring bear hunt may be getting another five years in Timmins. This is because of a rise in human and bear interactions and the sustainable population. The pilot program would go through to 2020, and is currently open for public comment and discussion

Hunting cubs and females with cubs will still be illegal, and could mean criminal charges and fines up to $25,000. Minister of Natural Resources, Bill Mauro, says the expansion will support economic growth and tourism in northern Ontario.
