The North East Local Health Integration Network is honouring a Timmins leader. Veronica Nicholson has been the Executive Director of the Timmins Native Friendship Centre for over a decade, and now the LHIN has awarded her the Healthy Change Champion.
The award is to recognize her work to improve accessibility and care for the Aboriginal community in the northeast. The LHIN says Nicholson has also improved the cultural approach and programs for residents of the urban Aboriginal community.
The Healthy Change Champion is given to those who are helping to transform the health care system be more patient and client focused, while making it easier to access. The LHIN says they are people or organizations who are reaching out to others in the course of their work to improve the system.
