Council to look at core service recommendations in the coming weeks

Now that the final core service review of Timmins has been released, council is going to be looking at the recommendations. Some of the recommendations are organizational, which means city staff will look at them, while others are strategic and for council to decide on.

Mayor Steve Black says the it’s going to keep the city busy for the next few weeks. He says council will decide on the high priority issues going into the 2016 budget talks. There are both short-term and long-term recommendations for council to look at, including cost recovery for transit services through increasing rates, and changing the way roads are maintained throughout the winter.

The public portion of the report is 186 pages long, and cost the city $105,000.
