The week was marked with events like a State of the City address by the Mayor, workshops, and learning opportunities for business owners. Timmins Mayor Steve Black says small businesses are important to the national and local economy, making up a large portion of jobs in Timmins. He says the city is lucky to have some of the businesses we do, which get involved in the community and take pride in their work. Black says although the larger mining and forestry companies throw up some big numbers in terms of contributing to the community, small businesses are a huge component of the local economy overall.
