The Timmins Hospital is opening its doors to the new breast wellness centre today, keeping in line with October’s Breast Cancer Awareness month. The hospital has reached their fundraising goal of $1.2 million to make the new centre possible.

The five year fundraiser brought in enough money for equipment like an ultrasound machine, an MRI breast coil, and a Surgical Specimen Radiography System. That means doctors can do things like mammograms, bone marrow density ultrasounds, and biopsies all in one location.

The grand opening is from 4:00pm until 7:00pm at the hospital, and is open for the public to learn about all of the services provided.
