Henry, a two-year-old, 700 pound polar bear will be moving into his new home in Cochrane today. The Polar Bear Habitat is welcoming Henry from the Gold Coast in Australia. The habitat’s Manager Karen Cummings says logistically, moving the bear across the world is an incredibly coordinated effort.
She says the Royal Australian Air Force helped to move him, which saved about 15 hours of travel time for the bear. Cummings says Henry will be in a 30-day quarantine as he gets used to his new home.
She says Henry and Ganuk, the other polar bear in the habitat, have similar personalities and she’s hoping they’ll interact well.
