Barbecue organizer says Living Space is there to help people who need it

Leo Coté says poverty and homelessness appear to be getting worse.  So the owner of Timmins Porcupine Trailers has teamed up with the owner of Red Seal Catering, Jessica Bouvier to help.

They’re staging a free barbecue at Living Space on Friday between 10:00am and 3:00pm, with contributions from Independent Grocer.

Coté says he brought the idea to Bouvier.

“We hear a lot about Living Space, but never good. It’s always the bad stuff,” he remarks. “So we thought maybe hey, how about we do something good for Living Space.”

They’ll be serving hamburgers, hot dogs, salads and drinks.

Coté says all people usually do is criticize the homeless shelter and the people it serves.  But he says Living Space is there to help people.

“They’re not there to hurt people. It’s unfortunate the location is not where people want it. But we have to do something for these people to try and help them instead of always dissing them. They’re not bad people. They just need help.”

Anyone is welcome at the barbecue. You can make a donation to Living Space if you’d like.
