Timmins city councillor Cory Robin has filed one complaint with the integrity commissionerand intends to file a second one surrounding a special meeting Tuesday night to discuss the redevelopment of Leo Del Villano Park.
He says communicating via email last weekend between Coun. Bill Gvozdanovic and four other councillors constitutes an illegal meeting. That’s because while Gvozdanovic asked for support for calling the Tuesday night meeting, he also discussed what points he intended to cover. Robin says the other four only discussed their availability.
“It’s absolutely illegal to sit down and email fellow councillors about your positions and continue to push to do things in the city without the city’s input,” Robin states.
Robin adds he didn’t know about the emails until early Tuesday. Once served by the integrity commissioner, Gvozdanovic will have ten days to respond.
Mayor Michelle Boileau ended the special meeting, when Coun. John Curley declined to apologize for yelling at her or leaving the meeting.
Robin refutes that he’s not doing it because Gvozdanovic filed a complaint against him a couple months ago… that resulted in censure and being docked two months’ council pay.
“The procedural bylaw applies to all of use and currently no member of council other than me has attempted to file this kind of complaint,” says Robin. “Every single person around that table who sees what happens and endorses it can just simply say nothing.”
The second complaint yet to be filed surrounds conduct at the special meeting.
