Five weeks to go until Rock on the River, and the city has put Timmins Festival and Events Committee chair John Olaveson’s mind at ease.
He was worried about the damage done to the ground at Hollinger Park left by Snow Cross, which had problems restoring it to its previous state, due to snow and contaminants to it.
At a meeting with the city, Olaveson was told work will begin ASAP to rectify that.
“I’m happy to say that the city’s going to work to get it back to a usable state for us this summer,” he remarks.
The fix will be temporary one, ahead of bigger plans.
“I don’t think monster trucks will be there, but something that’s really usable” says Olaveson,, “something a little bit warmer, maybe with grass, maybe some trees, stuff like that. It’s encouraging.”
Those additions will be the latest as City Hall transforms the old ball park into more of a concert venue.
