Book box project officially opened

The project installing new book boxes in and around Schumacher celebrated its grand opening Friday morning..

During the ceremony outside Schumacher Public School, Schumacher Community Library Project committee member Lloyd Salomone paid tribute to a long list of people and organizations who made it possible.  He noted a few in particular.

“TH&VS students who built the book boxes and decorated them and painted them,” he said. “As well, we received funding from the Schumacher Foundation and the final one was the City of Timmins, who installed all the book boxes on their property.”

The book boxes are spread out across Schumacher, Gold Centre and Carium.  Besides being a place to borrow and donate reading material, they’re considered a place to meet neighbours and learn what’s going on in the community.
