Charges laid in Rea St. assault

Attempted murder is one of six charges against a 22-year-old Timmins man, connected to an incident on Rea St. N. early Wednesday.

Police say the male victim sustained injuries from what they call “an edged weapon”. An ambulance took him to hospital with serious injuries.

The suspect was arrested a short time later.  He has a bail hearing tomorrow (Friday).

Here is the full list of charges:

  • Attempt to Commit Murder
  • Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose
  • Failure to Comply with a Probation Order
  • Carrying a Concealed Weapon
  • Aggravated Assault
  • Uttering Threats – Cause Death or Bodily Harm

Investigators are looking for video footage from between 2:30 and 3:15 that morning from Rea St. near Algonquin Blvd. and Mountjoy St. near Second Ave. It and any other information can go to TPS or Crime Stoppers.
