As spring begins today (Thursday), we can confirm that we’ve had a lot of snow this winter.
The Mattagami Region Conservation Authority has figures showing that snow depths and the water content in that snow are above normal across the Mattagami watershed.
The water content is as high as 126.7% what we normally get.
But MRCA general manager David Vallier says it’s too early to make any flood predictions as that snow melts. The amount of rainfall we get this spring is a definite factor in that regard.
